Meet Aurora & Mia
Please tell us a bit about you and your family:
My name is Aurora and my 4-year-old daughter is Mia. We’re from the Southeast USA.
What was it that first made you search for an app to help with your situation?
We co-slept with our daughter Mia for the first 2 & 1/2 years of her life, so when we began to think about putting her upstairs in her own room, the task seemed daunting! We were certainly ready to have our bed to ourselves at night, but the dark and nighttime in general always seemed scary to her. She would cry and beg for me to come and sleep with her, and I would lay with her until she fell asleep. As a teacher mom, this just wasn’t sustainable! She would toss and turn and of course, there were so many things to get done while I lay there uncomfortably on this very small bed. A teacher friend of mine mentioned that her sister used a calming sound CD to put her two daughters to bed each night, so I immediately began searching for apps that would fit the bill.

Did you try any other ways to help?
So many things! We tried everything that we could – letting her cry it out (my husband was NOT a fan), giving her a special unicorn bedsheet and comforter set, playing a TV show she liked (we were the most hopeful about this, as she would fall asleep watching TV frequently in our bedroom, but this ended with her staying up all night), playing music but when a song came up she didn’t like, it woke her up – and these are just the things I can think of off the top of my head! We tried it ALL!
How did you feel the moment Moshi worked for you?
Moshi was truly a game-changer, lifesaver, you name it! All at once, everything clicked. The bedtime worries and anxiety went away – for all parties involved! It was like magic!
What feature do you find the most helpful on the Moshi app?
We love the playlist feature! Whenever Mia finds a new story she wants to try out, she can easily add it to the list on her own. I thought for sure she’d be one to want the same unicorn stories every night, but Moshi has actually helped her to broaden her interests!
If you were asked to recommend Moshi, what would you say?
Oh goodness, all wonderful things! And I have! I usually just tell them our story in a nutshell and that will sell it!
What would be the one word you’d use to describe Moshi?
Wondrous!
Do you have any tips for other families using the app?
Even if your iPad or other device is older*, like the secondhand iPad mini my daughter uses, you can download a compatible version of the app from the App Store! This is especially helpful if your child’s bedroom is a bit far from your own. No more leaving my phone in her room, and I get to listen to my Rain Showers, too!
*Please check device compatibility in the Moshi FAQs
