Everyone has their opinion on whether or not music playing in the background while we work is distracting or not, but studies do actually show that music can be beneficial during work time  – especially for kids.

According to Healthline, music offers a lot of benefits, like:

There’s also research that suggests music has the ability to switch on the same reward centers in the brain as doing our favorite activities.

Music helps stimulate your brain in a similar way that exercise helps stimulate your body. And also like exercise, listening to music can release endorphins in the brain. If you’re unfamiliar with endorphins, they’re basically little “feel-good” hormones that are released when we do something we enjoy. In addition to the feeling of general happiness that comes from the release of endorphins, it can also help reduce feelings of anxiety, ease pain, and even boost the immune system.

How to use music to boost concentration

Music can be used to boost concentration during a plethora of different scenarios. From focus time in the classroom to homework to chores, it’s a great tool to have at your disposal.

Focus and concentration are two of the most commonly used words by educators in describing what is needed to do well on academically rigorous and/or detailed assignments. These skills allow students to be immersed in the subject and absorb the content.

Relaxing, instrumental music is the best way to go as it doesn’t break concentration like lyrical songs can. Moshi has a 24/7 live stream of calming music available on YouTube, perfect for the classroom and the home.
