Goldie the Mindful Moshling
Listen in the app while you read along
Hello, I’m Goldie Hawn. Tonight we’re traveling to the magical world of Moshi, a place where nothing is quite as it seems… especially at night. Soothing twilight colors descend, and everywhere feels very dreamy, from Pawberry Fields and Lush Lagoon to Franzipan Farm and beyond.
But this evening is extra special as we’re meeting a good friend of mine… a very Mindful Moshling who’s also called Goldie. So snuggle down, cozy up and relax…

Somewhere in the Moshi world, beside a moonlit stream, a Moshling known as Goldie has a hope, a wish, a dream. She wants to learn some more about the power of the mind, then spread the word to help her friends all calm down and unwind.
Goldie knows contentment flows when mindfulness exists. Which sounds a little hokey but here’s the general gist. Your mind is an amazing thing, just like a wise computer…That’s packed with lots of awesome things that make you super duper.
But every mind is different and we all need sleep and rest, and little things to help us when we’re upset, sad or stressed. So Goldie’s going on a trip to help her understand why mindfulness and sweet dreams go together, hand in hand.

Goldie walks along a path, it’s lit by stars above. She comes across a wondrous scene that fills her heart with love. An owl, Professor Feathersnooze, is circling weeping willows. collecting magic blossom fluff to squish inside some pillows.
But the pillows he’s preparing are not for his wise head. This kind old owl is sharing them with all his friends instead. He puts them in a basket, which he pulls into the sky. Then twit-twoos at Goldie, who waves as he flaps by.
Goldie knows that being generous shouldn’t be a chore. Being there when others need you, that’s what friends are for. Kindness is a superpower, friendship is a gift, and when we’re thoughtful every day, it gives the mind a lift.

As Goldie’s trip continues, it’s hard to stay awake, ‘cos now she’s sitting on a raft that’s drifting on a lake. The lake is filled with liquid rainbows, lullabies and dreams, and just like most things moshified, nothing’s as it seems.
A Glimmering Glowfish plops up, and he and Goldie chat about how always looking on the bright side, that’s where it’s at. The Glowfish then tells Goldie that what really makes his day, “Is making others glow inside, with things I do and say.”
As the Glowfish disappears, ripples start to form, and as they grow and multiply, Goldie feels so warm. She watches as the ripples spread beneath the pale moonlight, pretty sure her Glowfish friend sleeps soundly every night.

Goldie’s in a meadow lined with pinky-purpley trees, as crickets sing a sleepy tune that floats upon the breeze. She sees a koala, SleepyPaws, relaxing on a branch. He’s breathing slowly in, then out, as if he’s in a trance.
Goldie hears a little chime then SleepyPaws looks up. He says hello and offers her a dainty bluebell cup. It’s filled with eucalyptus tea, a koala’s favorite drink. He then explains that taking breaks helps him chill and think.
Goldie tells her cuddly friend that she takes breaks as well, and how she also starts and ends them with a little bell. They both agree that breathing very deeply helps out too, and so does really listening to the sounds surrounding you.

SleepyPaws and Goldie say goodbye, but not forever. They arrange to take their next break in Nutmeg Nook, together. But now it’s time for Goldie to drop in on a bunny whose daily mood and attitude are always bright and sunny.
The bunny’s name is Nodkins and she lives beneath a tree, and when she talks she radiates sheer positivity. Goldie asks her how she stays so happy, bright and cheery? Then Nodkins smiles and offers her this truly heartfelt theory…
“When it rains I look for rainbows,” Nodkins says with glee. “And when it’s dark I Iook for stars, it helps, I guarantee.” Goldie knows that optimism’s like a little seed that grows into a flower and can wipe out any weed.

Goldie’s seeing one more friend who’s famous for his yawn. He’s said to dream of wondrous things from twilight through to dawn. This otter’s name is Yawnsy and he lives beside a creek, and Goldie hopes he holds another key to peaceful sleep.
She spots him snuggling in the reeds, gazing at the water. It’s clear from his demeanor that he’s one contented otter. Goldie says, “Hello there,” and asks what’s on his mind. And Yawnsy then explains, “It’s lots of joyful things combined.”
“See when I go to bed each night I think of things I’ve done…Memories and happy stuff, and times I’ve had great fun. I think of them as movies then replay them in my head. Try it and you’ll find it helps, each time you go to bed.”

Visiting her Moshling friends has been a real delight, but Goldie’s heading home now to reflect upon her night. Mindfulness and breaks can be wonderfully inspiring, but wandering through the Moshi world has proved a little tiring.
She gazes at the glowing moon and thinks of all her chums and all the things they do that lead to sleep when bedtime comes: Her Glowfish friend whose words and actions ripple far and wide…The way that Nodkins optimism makes her feel inside…
Then there’s cuddly Yawnsy, who savors lovely stuff, and kind Professor Feathersnooze, collecting pillow fluff. Not forgetting SleepyPaws, who loves his calming breaks. Why, it’s a wonder any one of them can ever stay awake.
Goldie finally gets back home and flops into her bed, as twinkling stars and moonbeams spread their magic overhead. She thinks about the things she learned instead of counting sheep, then snuggles down, cozies up and gently falls asleep.
Goodnight, and sweet dreams…
